The Year of the Sweater
One of my goals this year is to knit more sweaters. Last year it was socks. I started out with a sweater for my hubby. Even though I dreaded the miles of stockinette, I learned a lot about gauge. It’s EZ’s Saddle Shoulder Pullover from Knitting Without Tears in Plymouth Encore. It turned out rather well, but he complains the neckband is too tall. Someday I will rip it out and fix it. See Ravelry for further details.

#2 Amused
Taking what I learned from that sweater, I went on to tackle Amused by Jordanna Paige. It was knit in yummy Malabrigo. The colorway is Red Java, and it is so much prettier knitted up than it is in the skein. I opted to knit the sleeves long. I would suggest including more decreases if you like a more fitted sleeve at the wrist. I didn’t think of this until I was finished. When I worked the sleeves, I just spaced the decreases further apart. It is probably one of the nicest FOs I’ve ever made. I highly recommend the pattern. Photo credits go to my friend knittycats, who had me posing all over downtown Maryville. More details on Ravelry.

#3 February Lady
The third sweater of the year is the Famous February Lady Sweater. I participated in a knitalong with my local knitting group – a great bunch of gals. I really enjoyed knitting this along with everyone. The yarn is Miss Babs Yowza Whatta Skein in Ironweed. The shell buttons came from my MIL’s box of buttons. Another great EZ inspired sweater. #4 OWLs
Sweater number four is the OWLs sweater. It’s in progress, or it was until I ripped out what I had done on the body. My gauge loosened up, and I am worried that the sweater will grow a little when I wash it. The last two have grown, which actually worked out for the best. The yarn is Queensland Uruguay Chunky. I am modifying the pattern so that the shaping is on the sides instead of the back. I am going to rework my math so I there is less ease. When it grows after washing, it should fit great. Here’s a progress shot before I ripped out the body. Click here for more details.

And so goes my year of the sweater. I think some summer sweaters are destined to be on my needles soon.
