WIPs: February Baby Sweater and Drop Stitch Scarf

Here are a couple of my current projects on the needles. A February Baby sweater for a coworker whose baby is due later this month. I should have it done in plenty of time. All it needs are sleeves and buttons. I want to find either apple or ladybug buttons. I think they would be really cute with the green color. The yarn is Jeannee, and it’s been really nice knitting with it. I used the instructions from the lady sweater for the sleeves, and I only cast on seven stitches for the underarm. I had fourteen but that seemed like too many. I was afraid I would run out of yarn so I bumped up a needle size on the lace portion. I have one ball left for the sleeves. I wanted to make a little hat, too, but I probably won’t have enough. We’ll see.

The other project that’s seen a lot of action lately is the #13 Drop Stitch Scarf from the latest Vogue Knitting. Fun, fairly mindless knitting. The yarn is Araucania Ruca Multy. It’s a little splitty and slightly squeaky, but otherwise, not too bad. I am crossing my fingers that my second skein will match fairly well with the first. That’s the chance you take when using kettle dyed yarn. It has a lovely drape. The yarn is 100% sugarcane, and I’m curious to see what happens when I wash it. There is a typo in the pattern, but it is pretty obvious. Under the Beg Patt section Row 1 part of the pattern reads …pw2 tbl, [pw2]6 times, …. It should read …pw2 tbl, [pw3] 6 times…. I really want to get this one finished so that I can start a shawl with some of the yarn I bought at Stitches South.
